Since July 1 2011, I’ve been accepting donations from users of my applications. 144 amazingly generous people have been kind enough to donate to my software development fund. The goal of this fund is to collect money so that, one day when I really need it, I’ll be able to buy the tools (be it an Apple Developer Connection membership, a new Mac, or something else) I need to continue developing exciting and useful apps for my users.
In my family, it is traditional that we let off helium-filled balloons into the sky to celebrate exciting events such as births, marriages, and other achievements. On March 3, thanks to the kind donations of my users, my software development fund exceeded 1000€, so I thought that it was a very fitting opportunity to let off some balloons in the lovely weather that Paris has been having recently.
The thing that I love the most about developing Mac apps is that I can give them away for free, and if people find them valuable, they can choose to pay however much my app is worth to them. So, thank you very much to everyone who has donated. It’s hard to express in words quite how great of an encouragement this is to a humble 14 year old student.
If you would like to donate, you can do so via Paypal.
